Flight-Plan. Ninja Studio. Cing. Game Republic.
Four Japanese developers that folded over the last two years.
What's this supposed to be? I guess both, an eulogy to them - or maybe just remembering them and their games for a moment, I guess (Izuna, Summon Night, Another Code, etc.) - as well as a response to someone on a gaming website raving how Western devs are totally failing, while Japanese ones are going strong. I also didn't mention any developers or publishers that were absorbed into other companies or something similar - think Hudson Soft or Namco Tales Studio (formerly Wolfteam).
Of course there's also developers dying in the West, even some with long histories like Bizzare Creations or SCE Studio Liverpool (formerly Psygnosis), but if anything, that shows that there's prolific development houses shutting down on both sides of the world.
